Minister for Urban Development and Food and Civil Supplies Department Leads Joint Inspection at Namchi Bazaar and Chairs Coordination Meeting at DAC

Namchi, 21 August (IPR): Mr Bhoj Raj Rai, Minister for Urban Development and Food and Civil Supplies Departments, chaired a coordination meeting with all District Heads of Offices at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Centre (DAC) in Namchi today.
The meeting was attended by Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, Ms Tirsang Tamang ADC Namchi, Dr CP Rai ADC Development Namchi, Mr Saran Kalikotey SDM Namchi, Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia SDM (HQ), Dr SN Adhikari CMO Namchi, along with Heads of Offices from various line departments, and representatives from Smart City Limited and Namchi Municipal Council.
During the meeting, the Minister expressed his appreciation to all Heads of Offices for their efforts in ensuring a successful inspection. He emphasised key aspects of his inspection, including the expansion of Namchi town through infrastructural development, noting that it is the second largest town in the state after Gangtok.
The Minister instructed the relevant departments to oversee the proper management of the drainage and water pipeline systems, ensuring cleanliness in and around the area. He also recommended relocating the organic vegetable markets to Kishan Market and called for improved sanitation facilities within the town.
Additionally, the Minister proposed that one Self-Help Group (SHG) be selected to undertake cleaning the entire town, with the group receiving an annual grant of one lakh rupees in instalments.
He outlined his vision for making the town vibrant and sustainable through overall development, urging departments to collaborate effectively to implement various projects and policies within the district.
Earlier in the day, the Minister conducted a comprehensive joint inspection of Namchi Bazaar, assessing various projects and addressing issues affecting the local population. He also interacted with local vendors and stakeholders, addressing their concerns.
During the inspection, the Minister was accompanied by Mr Ganesh Rai Chairman NMC, Mrs Sabitri Tamang, Vice Chairman NMC, Councillors NMC Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, Ms Tirsang Tamang ADC Namchi, Dr CP Rai ADC Development Namchi, Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia, SDM (HQ), Mr Saran Kalikotay SDM Namchi along with Heads of Offices from various line departments and representatives from Smart City Limited.
