Minister Mr Sanjeet Kharel inaugurates Physiotherapy Centre and Block Public Health Unit at Jorethang CHC
Namchi, 20 November (IPR): Minister for Women and Child Development Department Mr Sanjeet Kharel inaugurated the Physiotherapy Centre at Jorethang Community Health Centre, today.
The inaugural programme had the presence of Ms Sunita Gazmer Area MLA(Zoom-Salghari Constituency) along with Secretary Ms Ganga D Pradhan (W&CDD), Ms Normit Lepcha Principal Director (W&CDD), Dr. S N Adhikari CMO (Namchi), Dr. Urgen Sherpa DNO, Dr M B Chettri Joint Commissioner (W&CDD), Mr P N Pradhan Assistant Commissioner along with medical staff and ASHA workers.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Mr Sanjeet Kharel extended his gratitude to the Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr Prem Singh Tamang for his continued efforts to enhance the lives of people by upgrading and setting up various vital public infrastructures across the state according to the needs. He mentioned that this new physiotherapy centre will serve the people in the region, who previously had to travel far places, and can now avail these services in the vicinity.
He further commended the work excelled by the medical staff of the CHC improving overall health services for the benefit of the public.
It may be mentioned here that this newly inaugurated physiotherapy centre will cater to a wide range of physiotherapeutic services including rehabilitative services, enabling and supporting the patients to recover and improve their lives.
During the programme, he also handed over various therapeutic tool kits to the Physiotherapy Centre, which was received by CMO Namchi and the physiotherapy team. These therapeutic tool kits was provided by the Women and Child Development Department. The therapeutic tool kits include Low and Wide treatment bed, Muscle stimulator, Ultra sound, Bolster, wedge, walker, therapy mad and band, eye hand coordination kit, exercise kit and many more.
At the onset, the Minister also inaugurated the Block Public Health Unit ( BPHU) established at the premises of Jorethang CHC. The BPHU is supported by a laboratory that will assist in the early detection and prevention of diseases in the area, so as to initiate prompt control measures. The unit is equipped with automated facilities for testing, etc.
