MLA Zoom-Salghari Mr. Madan Cintury chairs Official Press Conference for the upcoming Maghey Sankranti Mela 2025.

Namchi, January 3 (IPR): Mr Madan Cintury, MLA Zoom-Salghari cum Chief Patron of Makar Sankranti Maghey Mela 2025, chaired an Official Press Conference at conference hall cum Library NJNP, Jorethang, today.
Accompanying the MLA at the event were Mr. Yougan Tamang, Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Ms. Monika Rai SDM Jorethang, Mr. Dilip Dong MEO, Mr. Ben Kumar Chettri, Mr. Samten Tamang Panchayat NJNP, members of the Maghey Mela sub-committees, and local residents.
During the press conference, the MLA briefed about the Makar Sankranti Maghey Mela, which came to existence in 1950s has been a historic event for the state and wishes for it to continue for years to come further, keeping its tradition and heritage alive.
Further he also briefed that the Governor of Sikkim, Mr Om Prakash Mathur will be present on the event to proceed with the foundation stone laying ceremony for Sandhya Aarti at the confluence of Rangeet and Rammam rivers.
Talking about attracting tourists from national level, the MLA briefed that various attractions have been implemented during the course of the event. He assured that this all will be the founding steps to promote Maghey Sankranti Mela to greater heights.
Additionally, the couples who won the Dhan Nach competition at the Maghey Mela in 1972 will also be part of this year’s event.
The mela will have attractions like laying of foundation stone for Sandhya Aarti at the confluence of Rangeet and Rammam River, All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Tournament, Constituency Level Football Tournament, for both men and women, traditional cultural programmes with Dhan Nach as the special attraction.

◦ Open Bench Press – Strongest man of Sikkim Rural Sports.
◦ Book Stall and Art Gallery Museum showcasing old photographs and local antiques.
◦ Flower Exhibition.
◦ Meena Mela, Expo, Tambola.
◦ Night Camping at river Rangeet and river Ramran confluence site.
◦ Boating at Rangeet river.
◦ Adventure Sports.
◦ Helicopter Joyride.
◦ Lingey Ping.

It is to be mentioned that Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela will signify the initiation of the celebration of 50 Years of Statehood this year. Additionally, the mela will be hosted and celebrated 24×7 during its seven days course.
