Namchi, 8th October(IPR): Mr. Joel Chettri, a 20year old cyclist from Jaubari, Namchi who recently completed his solo cycling ride from Namchi, Sikkim to New Delhi, received a warm and rousing welcome upon his arrival at Central Park, Namchi, today.
He was given a warm reception by the Advisor(Skill Development) Mr. Satish Chandra Rai, Chairperson Building and Housing Department Mr. Tashi Dorjee Tamang, Chairperson (NMC) Mr. Ganesh Rai, Sr.SP (Namchi) Dr. Tshering Namgyal Gyatsho, Councillors of NMC along with members of Sikkim Government Retired Employees Association, students and enthusiastic people from all walks of life.
The people of Namchi accorded him a Letter of Appreciation and other tokens for his successful venture and setting as a trailblazer for adventure seekers.
Mr Joel Chettri shared his experiences and challenges faced by him and his team during the expedition. He also extended his gratitude to the people for their support and guidance throughout the tour.
It may be mentioned here that Mr. Joel Chettri embarked on his journey from Central Park on 17th August and reached India Gate, Delhi on 30th August covering a total distance of 1565 kms.
Reaching New Delhi, he was called upon by the Speaker of Delhi Vidhan Sabha Assembly Mr. Ram Niwas Goel at his office, and was felicitated by the Speaker. During the meeting, He apprised the Speaker about the message and motive behind the tour which was to generate awareness of the prevention of drug abuse, health and promote organic dietary practices.
