Namchi burns the effigy of Rankey Bhoot Effigy

Namchi, July 16(IPR): As a part of the Rankey Mela Celebration, 2024 burning of the effigy Rankey Bhoot was carried out in Namchi this evening.
The burning ceremony was attended by Mr Ganesh Rai Chairman NMC, Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, Sr SP Dr TN Gyatsho along with HODs and officers of the line departments, members of Rankey Mela Celebration Committee and public at large.
During the ceremony, traditional rituals were performed before the burning of the effigy, led by the procession in the market area.
It may be mentioned here that Rankey Bhoot is known as the devil that destroys harvests as it is believed that the burning of effigy will purify the regions from many forms of bad luck. The ceremony was later followed by various cultural extravaganzas at Kishan Market.
