Namchi Conducts Joint Inspection at Namchi Bazaar

Namchi, 8th August (IPR): A comprehensive joint inspection of pharmacies, hotels, and fast-food establishments was conducted at Namchi Bazaar on 7th August.
Under the guidance of Dr. SN Adhikari, Chief Medical Officer cum District Officer of Namchi, the inspection was carried out in collaboration with Mr. Saran Kalikotey, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Namchi, alongside officials from the Food Safety Officer, Station House Officer, Inspection Officers from District Hospital Namchi, Animal Husbandry, and Namchi Municipal Council.
During the inspection, a total of 7 pharmacies, 5 retail meat shops, and several fast-food businesses were assessed for cleanliness, adherence to hygiene standards, and compliance with good manufacturing practices.
Key directives issued during the inspection included the disposal of expired medicines in accordance with procedures established by the district hospital, and the requirement for pharmacies to maintain data backups for the storage capacity of CCTVs installed on their premises.
Furthermore, it was noted that three fast-food outlets were found to be non-compliant with Schedule 4 guidelines under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and its Regulations of 2011. Owners of these establishments were promptly notified and instructed to rectify these discrepancies within 7 days.
