Namchi District concludes Second Round of Training for Counting Officials
Namchi, May 24 (IPR): The third and final day of the second round training for Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants and Micro Observers was held at the Conference Hall of District Admininstration Centre, Namchi.
The session had the presence of Mrs Annapurna Alley, DC Namchi, Mr Sunil Mothey, ADC(DEV) Ravangla, Mr Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia, SDM Ravangla, Mrs Monika Rai, SDM Jorethang, Ms Rajani Sharma, SDM Namthang .
Mrs Annapurna Alley, DC Namchi in her note appealed all the training officials for the counting process to pay close attention during the training to ensure an error-free count on 2nd and 4th June,2024.
Mr. Tshering Norgyal Theengh SDM Yangang-cum- SLMT began the morning training session with a recap of the previous round. He briefly discussed the counting procedure and also briefed the training officials about their responsibilities and protocols that has be maintained and followed during the counting process.
The afternoon session was trained by Mrs. Bhumika Chettri, Deputy Secretary Election-cum-SLMT.
Both the trainers provided an in-depth overview of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPAT) with practical demonstration.
In addition, they also stressed that all counting officials must work diligently to prevent any chaos during the counting process. They discussed the procedures for checking EVMs and postal ballots, highlighted the importance of maintaining voting secrecy, outlined the layout of the counting hall, and detailed the inspection of control unit seals, as well as the roles of all counting officials.
Furthermore, evaluation of the trainees was also done to see the readiness and preparedness of all the counting officials. Hands on training with EVMs and VVPATs was also given to the trainees.
Lastly, Mrs Bhumika Chettri conducted a round of questions and answers session, where the participants engaged actively, concluding with a hands-on session with EVMs and VVPAT.
