Namchi District Conducts pre-monsoon preparedness meeting of DDMA at DAC

Namchi, April 29(IPR): Mrs Annapurna Alley Chairman District Disaster Management Authority cum District Collector Namchi chaired pre-monsoon preparedness meeting of District Disaster Management Authority(DDMA) at the Conference Hall of District Administrative Centre, today.
The meeting had the presence of Sr SP Dr T N Gyatsho, ADC(HQ) Mr Subash Ghimirey, SDM(HQ) Mr Gopal Kumar Chettri along with the HoDs from the line departments and representatives from NHIDCL and Power Grid Corporation LTD.
During the meeting, the DC enquired the Officers about the overall preparedness of the line departments. She also advised the officers to formulate proper plans and execute ways to control disaster and informed them to initiate the necessary measures that can be implemented to prevent from any natural calamities that may occur during the monsoon season.
ADC(HQ) stressed upon identification and evacuation of low lying risk areas especially during the monsoons to protect and prevent any form of damage to domestic livelihood. He further mentioned on the need to avoid any form of road blockages and to carefully maintain and to keep a check on safety and create alternative routes during the times of emergency or unforeseen calamities.
Further, Sr SP informed the Officers about the imperatives of transportation, which is required for the faster mobilisation and supply of resources. In addition, the officers from various line departments also highlighted their strategies and suggestions to the chair.
Likewise, SDM (HQ) highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the line departments during the disaster and informed that DDMA meeting is conducted annually under the Disaster Management Act and ensured the officers to put necessary arrangements before the monsoons.The meeting also discussed the health risk and epidemic outbreaks during the monsoon season especially with the rise in cases of dengue and malaria and other waterborne diseases.
