Namchi District Convenes Monthly NCORD Meeting to Address Drugs Menace

Namchi 26 September 2024 (IPR): A Monthly meeting of Narco Coordination (NCORD) on Namchi district was held at the office of DAC Namchi, today.
The meeting was chaired by Dr T N Gyatsho Sy SP Namchi. Also present during the meeting were Dr S N Adhikari CMO Namchi, Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia SDM (HQ) Namchi and officers from the line department.
At the outset, SP Namchi led an in-depth discussion on various issues related to menace of drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug peddling, with an emphasis on measures to combat drug trafficking and addiction in the district.
During his address, SP Namchi provided an updated on recent developments in NCORD initiatives. With regard to containment of drug peddling, it was informed that 2 peddlers involved in drugs menace has been arrested this month.
On the occasion, the officers from all the line department shared their assessment of the current situation with regard to the drug menace and shared their suggestions and measures to be taken to control drug menace and its consumption in the district.
It was further informed that the District Administrative Centre Namchi will organise an Awareness programme on 9th October as part of Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyaan where 34 Head-Masters from Government Secondary-Level Schools and 3 Principals from the Private Schools will give their participation, aiming to promote awareness and preventive measures against drug abuse.
