Namchi District hosts Career Counselling programme cum Financial Literacy Camp at Namchi Town Hall

Namchi, June 7(IPR): A Career Counselling cum Financial Literacy Camp for Class 12 pass students was organised by District Administration Centre at Namchi Townhall, today.
The programme had the presence of Ms Annapurna Alley DC Namchi, Mr Anant Jain ADC Namchi along with HoDs, teachers and students from various schools under Namchi district.
The Resource persons for the day were Ms Nirmala Moktan Additional Director Agriculture Department, Ms Mala Bajgai Retired Principal Director Animal Husbandry, Mr Jigmee Wazalingpa Education Department, Ms Puspa Rai Welfare Department, Mr Pema Wangchuk Editor Summit Times, Ms Smita Rai Entrepreneur, and the representatives from Sikkim Manipal University(SMU), Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology(SMIT), Shri Ramasamy Memorial University(SRM),State Bank of India(SBI), Institutions of Hotel Management and Hospitality(IHM).
The DC Namchi, in her welcome address expressed her gratitude to the resource persons and all other attendees. She also encouraged students to take huge advantages from such counselling sessions.
At the outset, Mr Anant Jain ADC Namchi and Mr Tshering Norgyal Theeng SDM Rangang-Yangang gave an orientation on civil service examinations such as UPSC and SPSC. Emphasising on the importance of such examinations, they advised the students to plan and prepare for the same which in future will enable them the opportunities to serve the nation.
Similarly, the representatives from SMU, SRM University and IHM Gangtok gave the overview of the programme and courses offered, eligibility criteria, prospects and avenues availed to the students by their universities. Further, the students were also enlightened about the importance of financial literacy including the insurance, banking, investments by the representatives of SBI.
Mr Pema Wangchuk and Ms Smita Rai shared their journey as the entrepreneurs and its advantages. They also encouraged students to incorporate innovative ideas and strategies to achieve success in their respective capacities. Similarly, Dr Mala Bajgai and Ms Nirmala Motkan briefed the students on the significance and the challenges faced by the Veterinary Doctors, Agriculture and Hoticulture practitioners and highlighted the opportunities provided by this sector including their unseen contributions for the betterment of society.
Likewise, Mr Jigmee Wazalingpa detailed about the reservation of quota seats to the students and informed about various scholarship provided to them while pursuing higher education. Ms Puspa Rai also elaborated on the scholarships offered to students and urged them to utilise such facilities provided by both central and state governments.
Later, the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Gopal Sharma which was followed by the felicitation of resource persons by the DC Namchi.
