Namchi, 30 September 2023 (IPR): Namchi District witnessed the launch of a week-long programme called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ for aspirational blocks in the country by the Prime Minister at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi at 10 am, today.
The Prime Minister stressed on the importance of optimum utilisation of resources, convergence and public participation for development at the grassroots level.
“The Aspirational Districts Programme has changed the lives of more than 25 crore people in 112 districts of the country. There has been a change in their quality of life,” PM said.
He expressed his belief based on his experiences that the budget alone would not bring about change in the country . He ensured that work could be accomplished by optimal use of convergence resources without requiring additional funds.
Sankalp Saptaah is intricately linked to the effective nationwide initiative and its implementation of the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP), which was introduced by Prime Minister on January 7th 2023.
The primary objective of ABP is to enhance governance at the block level to improve quality of life for citizens.
This ambitious endeavour is currently underway in 500 aspirational blocks spread across 329 districts throughout the country.
To facilitate the successful implementation of the ABP and craft robust block development strategies, ‘chintan shivirs’ were conducted at village and block levels across the nation.
Sankalp Saptaah will be observed concurrently in all 500 aspirational blocks. Each day during this week-long event, from October 3 to October 9, 2023,which is dedicated to a specific development theme that all aspirational blocks will be actively engaged.
The themes for the initial six days encompass:
‘Sampoorna Swasthya’ (Comprehensive Health),
‘Suposhit Pariwaar’ (Nutritious Families), ‘Swachhta’ (Cleanliness), ‘Krishi’ (Agriculture),
‘Shiksha’ (Education), and
‘Samridhi Diwas’ (Prosperity Day).
The culmination of this dynamic week will be celebrated on October 9th as
‘Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh’, acknowledging and commemorating the collective efforts and achievements throughout the week.
The inaugural event at Bharat Mandapam saw the active participation of around 3,000 representatives and officials from panchayats and block levels. Additionally, approximately two lakh individuals, comprising functionaries from blocks and panchayats, farmers, and people from various walks of life, connected virtually to be part of the event.
The launch event in Namchi District was virtually participated by CMO Namchi, Dr. S. N Adhikari, WO Namchi, Mr. Kyondit Lepcha, CDPO Namchi, Mr. Laxman Tamang and officials from various other line departments.
