National Institute of Technology Sikkim Celebrates Republic Day with Patriotic Fervor
Namchi, January 26: Namchi, 26 Jan: Institute of Technology Sikkim enthusiastically celebrated the 75th Republic Day of India at the Institute premises with the participation of the students, faculties and staff members of the Institute. Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil, Director NIT Sikkim unfurled India’s national flag followed by singing of National Anthem and addressed the gathering.
The director started his speech by paying tribute to the Indian heroes who sacrificed their lives during independence. He has highlighted the invaluable importance of women in the freedom movement and the framing the Indian Constitution. He acknowledged that Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam will empower women in the field of policy and law-making. Prof. M.C. Govil encouraged girl students to come into the field of STEM, citing the example of 81 percent entrepreneurs in Stand Up India being women.
Expressing his happiness Prof. M.C. Govil said that the year 2023 was memorable and proud for every Indian in many ways. Be it the presidency of G-20, getting the New Parliament House, the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 or the launches of Aditya-L1, Bharat has achieved many milestones in 2023 under the able leadership of our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
He reiterated the mantra of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Anushandhan given by the honorable Prime Minister and appealed to the students to contribute to the nation through their research and development. To realise the dream of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, Professor Govil expressed happiness over the enthusiastic participation of NIT students in presenting ideas for Viksit Bharat.
He thanked all the stakeholders for the progress of the institute over the years.NIT Sikkim keeps doing academic reforms to implement the New Education Policy. The institute has revised thea academic curriculum as per NEP 2020. Now students can avail multiple entry and multiple exit facility. Prof. Govil informed that all the students’ certificates, marksheets and other related documents have been digitally stored in the National Academic Depository through Digi Locker. Now, the student can view, access and share their digital academic awards at any time.
The event also witnessed the performance of patriotic music, poetry and other cultural activities by the students to celebrate the spirit of our nation.
