Nomination Scrutiny Concluded: Candidates from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha and Sikkim Democratic Front Cleared for Assembly Contest While Citizen Action Party’s Mahesh Rai Disqualified Due to Insufficient Proposers
Namchi, October 28 (IPR): The scrutiny of nomination papers submitted for the bye-election in the 11-Namchi-Singhithang Assembly Constituency was conducted today at the office of the Returning Officer/District Election Officer in Namchi, in the presence of the candidates and their respective election agents.
The Returning Officer cum District Election Officer reviewed four nominations submitted by various political parties.
The nominations of Mr Daniel Rai from the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) and Mr Satish Chandra Rai from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) were duly accepted.
Conversely, the nomination submitted by Mr Mahesh Rai of the Citizen Action Party (CAP) was rejected due to the insufficient number of proposers during the scrutiny process.
Furthermore, the nomination filed by Ms Yojna Rai of SDF as a substitute candidate was also cancelled by default.
During the procedure, the Returning Officer cum District Election Officer requested the validly nominated candidates to cooperate in ensuring a peaceful and smooth conduct of the bye-election and to set a commendable precedent for the process.
Additionally, she also highlighted Forms 4 and 5 to the candidates and mentioned the deadline for the withdrawal of candidacy, which is established as October 30, Wednesday, until 3 PM.
The voting day is scheduled for November 13, 2024.
