Office of Additional District Collector Development Ravangla, in collaboration with Rural Local Bodies, all Line Departments, local residents and other stake holders conducted a Mass Cleanliness Drive at Ravangla Bazar and surrounding areas on 28.09.2023

Namchi, 28th September: The Office of Additional District Collector Development Ravangla, in collaboration with Rural Local Bodies, all Line Departments, local residents and other stake holders conducted a Mass Cleanliness Drive at Ravangla Bazar and surrounding areas on 28.09.2023. The Chief Guest for the program was Hon’ble Area MLA 09-Barfung Constituecy, Shri TT Bhutia, amongst many other dignitaries and Local Gentries.
Publicity of the Cleanliness Drive and invitation to local residents was done through different social media handles and through miking by Police Department.
Before the commencement of the Mass Cleanliness Drive, Swachhata Pledge was administered to the assembled crowd by Shri Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ravangla. The briefing about the Campaign “ Swachhata Hi Sewa” and the Mass Cleanliness Drive was done by Shri Sunil Kr Mothay, Additional District Collector Development Ravangla.
The Coordination with all the stakeholders for an organised Cleanliness drive was done by Shri Bikash Tiwari, SDPO Ravangla.
The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Area MLA, Shri TT Bhutia welcomed and thanked all the stakeholders, Line Departments and specially the local residents for coming out in such a large number for Swachhata Abhiyaan. He further motivated the volunteers and stated that such cleanliness programmes should be conducted atleast once in three months.
The Cleanliness Drive was carried out at nine different identified areas which covered entire Ravangla Bazar and all approach roads under three Gram Panchayat Units namely Rabong Barfung, Rabong Khop and Sangmoo Rankey. More than 2000 people including Rural Local Bodies, all Line Departments, local residents and other stake holders participated in the Mass Cleanliness Drive. The collected garbage wastes consisted mostly of plastic wrappers, bottles, glass bottles, metals, discarded household articles, clothing, shoes, etc. Segregation of wastes was done at the time of collection by collecting plastics, glass bottles, broken glass bottles and discarded household items in different gunny bags.
All segregated wastes were collected at Traffic Point and loaded in the Resource Recovery Vehicle for disposal to scrap dealers and remaining at Sibchu landfill.
Apart from the Local Residents, Line Departments, Rural Local Bodies and representatives from Commercial Establishments, other stake holders who voluntered for “Shram Daan” were- Bazar Development Committee, Rabongla Tourism Development Committee, Satya Sai Sangathan, Manav Uthan Samiti, Neo Deep Pragati Sangh, Pragati
Kalyan Samaj, Mt Hermon Church, BFC Church, HBC Church, Sidhanth Pragati Samaj, Siddarth Samaj and many SHGs.
No non biodegradable waste was generated in conduction of the program. The banner used was made of biodegradable cotton cloth and only reusable cups and plates were used for refreshment purposes.
