One day Orientation on Localisation of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDG) Theme 2 – Healthy Village to all Senior Sec Schools in Namchi District

Namchi, 24th March. One day orientation on Healthy Village was conducted to different schools by State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Rural Development Department, in convergence with Health & Family Welfare Department and Education Department.
All together 22 different Sr. Sec Schools of Namchi District conducted the programme simultaneously on 24th March, 2023. The sessions were handled by health ambassadors of schools who were trained online on overall health issues focusing mainly on – Adolescent Health, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Nutrition, Menstrual Hygiene, Covid 19 and other Virus by Mr. Sonam G. Bhutia, State IEC Officer Health. The online programme also had the presence of Director SIRD&PR Shri Bishal Mukhia, Course Director Shri Varun Chettri, CEO Namchi Shri K. Imba Raj , Joint Director Education Shri G.P Sharma along with all the Principals of Schools.
Director SIRD&PR Shri Bishal Mukhia laid down the mandate of LSDG and highlighted the objective of this program. On his articulation targeting the 9- Themes of LSDG. Theme 2- Healthy village aims at the social and psychological welfare and well being of community member over and above good health and absence of disease. Students are good medium to reach the general mass as they come from different segment in rural population.
Course Director Shri Varun Chettri laid down the guideline and SOP of the orientation programme. With the motto – healthy children leads to health village and healthy village leads to healthy nation. The programme was successful as all the Principals and Teachers/Health Ambassadors of schools were a key factor in mobilizing and implementation of the programme and make total of 1500 students participate in Namchi District.
