Press conference on three years of implementation of National Education Policy (NEP,2020) held by Nation Institute of Technology (NIT), Ravangla

Namchi, 25th July (IPR): A press conference on three years of implementation of National Education Policy (NEP,2020) was held by Nation Institute of Technology (NIT), Ravangla today. The conference had the presence of Director, NIT Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil, Registrar Dr. Ranjan Basak, Dean Administration Dr. Achitesh N. Biswas, Dean Faculty Welfare Dr. Dhananjay Tripathi, Principal (JNV, Ravangla) Mr. Ashok Dutt and Assistant Registrar Mr. Ram P. Nepal.
Addressing, the Press Conference, Director, NIT Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil informed that NIT, Sikkim has holistically embraced and implemented the NEP, 2020 policy over the past three years. He highlighted that the institute has revised the curriculum and syllabi of all the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in accordance with NEP, 2020. Significant emphasis has been placed on research and skill-orientation learning. He further highlighted multi-disciplinary learnings, community-oriented projects, digital transformation, multilingualism, cultural awareness and inclusivity, skill development, artificial intelligence and machine learning and quantum computing and many more has been undertaken by the institute.
He further updated that one of the crucial aspect of NEP, 2020 is its focus on strengthening the higher education sector. The policy seeks to promote research and innovation, encouraging institutions to prioritize quality research and foster a culture of intellectual curiosity. To realize this goal, he said NIT Sikkim has signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with leading academic institutes and industries such as IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, MNIT Jaipur, University of Delhi, DRDO, NHIDCL, TCG Life sciences for academic and research collaborations in the area of mutual interest. He added that the institute will explore the signing of MoU with more National and International institutions in a phased manner.
Moreover, Prof. Mahesh Chandra Govil highlighted that NEP,2020 has laid a strong foundation for progressive education system. On, this note he said that NIT, Sikkim is fully committed to build upon the success of NEP, 2020 and is working towards an inclusive, innovative and globally competitive education system which will in turn empower the students at this institute to reach their full potential.
During the course of the conference it was informed NIT, Sikkim will be showcasing its achievements on the third anniversary of NEP, 2020 event in New Delhi on the 29th and 30th July.
