Farm School for Dragon Fruit Cultivation Inaugurated at Tintarbong, Lingmoo Paiyong GPU
Yangang, December 27: A farm school for dragon fruit cultivation was inaugurated today at Tintarbong Village, Lingmoo Paiyong GPU, organised by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Agriculture Deprtment, Namchi District. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hon’ble Panchayat Smt. Passang Doma Lepcha, Deputy Director Agriculture, Ms. Vaishnu Rai, ADO, Ms. Florenz Bhutia, HDO, Ms. Sudeshna Kharga, Assistant Technology Manager (ATM) and field staffs from Agriculture and Horticulture Departments.
The farm school, which aims to enhance local farming skills, will be overseen by Mr. Bishnu Prasad Koirala, a progressive farmer from the area. Mr. Koirala has been appointed as the Farm School Teacher and will lead the educational efforts in dragon fruit cultivation. During the event, farm inputs were handed over to him, marking the beginning of the school’s operations.
Speaking at the event, officials highlighted various ongoing government schemes to local farmers and urged them to make use of the opportunities provided to enhance their agricultural productivity.
The farm school will serve as a hub for knowledge dissemination, training farmers in modern farming techniques, and providing them with practical insights into dragon fruit cultivation, which has seen growing interest in the region.
