Visit of General Manager, BSNL Sikkim to CCCT Chisopani
Namchi, 1st December: On 27th November 2024, the General Manager of BSNL Sikkim, Shri Sarsji Saurabh, visited CCCT Chisopani to evaluate the internet connectivity provided by BSNL since 2023.
He was accompanied by a team of officials, including DGM Shri Ullas Kakar, AGM Shri Kamlesh Meena, SDE Shri Ganesh P. Rana, JTO Shri Prakasha Bista, Tenkendra Chettri and Sailendra Lama and officers.
The team held a meeting with the CCCT Polytechnic management, including the principal [IC], Vice Principal Shri Anup Sarmah, Network Administrator cum Lecturers Shri Rajeev Sharma, and Shri Ranjan Mishra.
The discussion focused on the challenges faced by the institute in obtaining reliable internet connectivity and addressing bandwidth issues.
Given that the institute is nearing its 25th year of establishment and has digitized its academic activities, reliable and high-speed internet connectivity has become essential.
With approximately 800 users, including students and staff, the demand for stable internet has increased.
Labs focused on cutting-edge technologies like Cyber-Physical Systems, 5G, IoT, Robotics and AI, along with research and innovation activities, heavily depend on uninterrupted connectivity. The institute produces 40-50 real-time research projects and publishes a similar number of research papers annually, utilizing extensive internet resources.
Due to its geographical challenges, the institute faces significant disadvantages in achieving consistent internet connectivity.
After detailed discussions, BSNL committed to the Installation of a BTS (Base Transceiver Station) at CCCT to enhance network stability, Bandwidth upgrade to 100 Mbps at the affordable AMC cost and assured support in hardware upgrades, acknowledging that the institute, being a non-profit organization, may face challenges in acquiring the required infrastructure.
The General Manager of BSNL, Shri Sarsji Saurabh, who also attended the Awadh CPS Lab inauguration as a special guest, emphasized the critical role of internet connectivity in academic institutions.
In his address, he assured CCCT of reliable and high-speed internet connectivity at the earliest, reiterating BSNL’s full support in resolving the issues.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with BSNL committing to significant improvements in connectivity for the institute.
