Namchi, 17th October, 2024: Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar (IIT-R) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) via video conferencing with Centre for Computers and Communication Technology (CCCT), Chisopani, Namchi Sikkim on 16th October, 2024 to establish an Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub (AWaDH) Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) lab.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Radhika Trikha, Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Technology and Innovation Foundation (TIF – AWaDH), IIT-R and Mr. Deepak Rasaily, Principal [IC], CCCT.
This collaboration aims to enhance awareness of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and the Internet of Things (IoT), fostering technological innovation through outreach activities.
The partnership will focus on building skill sets in CPS and organizing joint workshops and training programs for students, faculty, and researchers.
IIT Ropar will invest 14 lakh rupees to set up the said CPS lab, which will be equipped for experiments in Internet of things (IoT), 5G setups, robotics, embedded systems, wireless sensor networks (WSN) and 3D printing.
This initiative is the first CPS lab of its kind in Northeast India, providing CCCT, Chisopani students with valuable hands-on experience with advanced technologies. The lab is scheduled for formal inauguration in the last week of November 2024, during which representatives from IIT-R will visit CCCT, Chisopani for its inauguration where further collaborative initiatives shall be discussed.
