Namchi, 5th December: The two-day sampling program (3rd and 4th December 2024) in Namchi District, organized by scientists from the Central Inland Freshwater Research Institute (CIFRI), Guwahati, focused on the Teesta and Rangit tributaries, specifically Tar Khol and Manpur Khola.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, Block Officer and Fisheries Guard of Namchi District, the team, led by Dr. Shyamal Chandra Sukla Das (Principal Scientist, CIFRI) and Mrs. Niti Sharma (Scientist, CIFRI), conducted extensive studies on fish diversity, river biodiversity, catch patterns, and fish habitats. Additionally, the CIFRI technical staff carried out water parameter testing to gather crucial data about the aquatic ecosystem in these areas.
