PRESS RELEASE FROM FOOD AND CIVIL SUPPLIES DEPARTMENT NAMCHI

Following the inspection and sampling conducted on 04/07/2025 and 05/07/2025 at Namchi Bazaar by Food Safety Officer, Namchi after receiving a complaint from DCSO, Namchi regarding the unclear labelling on Sting Energy Drink.

Adjudicating Cases were registered by the Food Safety Officer, Dr. Shilpa Sunwar (Mukhia) for violation of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 for sale of “Misbranded” Sting Energy Drink against the Retailer, Wholesaler, Supplier and Distributor of Sting Energy Drink.

Additional District Magistrate, Namchi who is also the Adjudicating Officer, for the district Ms. Tirsang Tamang under Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 passed an order against those 05 defaulters imposing them with a cumulative fine of Rs. 1,80,000/- (One lakh and eighty thousand) only according to their nature of offences. Further, the defaulters are also directed to submit the return bills or dispose the same item in presence of the concerned authority.
