PRESS RELEASE FROM FOOD SAFETY & STANDARDS CELL, NAMCHI

Namchi, 17 September: Following the joint inspection conducted on 15/09/2025 at Yang Yang and surrounding areas of Namchi District after receiving a written public complaint by Food Safety Officer.
The team comprising of FSO, Technical Officer, Assistant Chemist, staff of Food Safety cell, along with Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) conducted the joint inspection on that areas. Further, during inspection the cooking oil used in the premise failed the Polarity/Rancidity test.
The case was registered by the Food Safety Officer, Dr. Shilpa Sunwar (Mukhia) for violating Schedule 4 guidelines of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 for selling food in unhygienic and unsanitary condition and without any labelling.
Chief Medical Officer, Namchi who is also the Designated Officer, for the district Dr. SN Adhikari under Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 passed a Prohibition order today- prohibiting the manufacturing and sale of any sweets, tea and other prepared food items till further notice.
