PRESS RELEASE FROM HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT NAMCHI

Team from headquarter Shri Bhim Dahal sir (Mission Director cum Principal Director), Shri Dikendra Bhujel sir Additional Director (Vegetables)cum District incharge Namchi, Shri Rinzing Bhutia sir Additional Director (Spices), along with respected Scientists from ICAR Gangtok, SMS from KVK, officials from IPM Gangtok, field officials of Ravangla, Namchi districts, and Temi block, were present.

It was indeed a very fruitful visit to the affected areas of cherry pepper. Upon field visit scientists and officials interacted with farmers and provided various prophylactic measures to combat various diseases which was present in the farmer’s field.

Conclusion: Soil treatment, seed treatment, seedling treatment with Trichoderma prior plantation would play a vital step to effectively prevent various fungal diseases in cherry pepper as well as other crops.

Farmers were highly greatful and really appreciated the time and effort shown by the department overall.
