Press Release from the office of DC Namchi

Namchi, 8th October: DC Namchi Mr. Bharani Kumar chaired a meeting at Devi Mandir, Adarshgaon.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Collector Mr. Pulkit, BDO Temi Mr. Prem Kumar Subba, Panchayat President, and officials from various departments such as Health and Family Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies, Roads and Bridges, Power, PHE, Irrigation, PowerGrid, and NHPC.
The meeting was set to aid and strengthen post-disaster recovery efforts in the state. Some of the key issues discussed included problems with road connectivity due to the washing out of bridges, damage assessment, and ex-gratia compensation for affected citizens, as well as instances of explosives during search and rescue operations.
It’s important to note that the district administration, in coordination with stakeholders, has prioritised the restoration of road connectivity. Therefore, the Roads and Bridges Department was directed to expedite the reconstruction of the Adarshgaon-Samardung-Mamring link road. Similarly, NHPC Teesta VI was directed to assist in the reconstruction of the Teesta 6 – Adarshgaon link road, which can facilitate vehicular movement.
Notably, NHPC Teesta VI deserves appreciation for their efforts to provide pedestrian connectivity across the Teesta VI barrage, which, due to technical specifications, cannot accommodate vehicular traffic. To further establish motorable connectivity to Singtam, suitable options were explored and discussed with multiple stakeholders.
Debris clearance work along the riverbed was intensified under the supervision of the irrigation department.
With every stakeholder contributing their efforts, the spirit of the district and state is rising with each passing day. “Build Back Better.”
