SDM Ravangla Leads Beautification Drive of Government Premises, Emphasizes Preservation and Green Initiatives.
Namchi, 30 May: Shri Wangyal Sherpa, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ravangla, conducted a detailed inspection of the Sub-Divisional premises, SDM quarters, and the local community hall today. The visit was part of a broader initiative to revitalize and maintain public infrastructure under his jurisdiction.
The inspection revealed that several areas around the premises had fallen into neglect, with overgrown grass and dense bushes. Taking immediate action, the SDM has mobilized PWD workers who are now working diligently to clear and clean the surroundings as part of a larger beautification effort.
Emphasizing the importance of preserving government infrastructure, Shri Sherpa stated, “Government properties are public assets. Every citizen must treat them with the same respect and care as their own.”
In a visionary step toward sustainable development, SDM Sherpa also announced plans to plant a variety of saplings around the premises with the aim of transforming the currently forest-like area into a serene, green public park. He has formally sought the cooperation of the Forest Department to assist with the plantation drive and ensure the selection of species that are well-suited to the region.
The SDM also envisions cultivating grass fodder within the park area, enabling local farmers to utilize it for their cattle, thereby supporting organic farming and sustainable agricultural practices.
Shri Wangyal Sherpa reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the people and reiterated his support for the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang’s novel Green initiative. He called upon all citizens, community groups, and departments to come forward and contribute actively to the state’s mission of ecological preservation through tree plantation.
The SDM’s proactive approach and dedication reflect a strong sense of leadership and responsibility in creating a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful Ravangla for the benefit of present and future generations.
