Namchi, 19th August: The establishment of District & Sessions Court, Namchi, South Sikkim celebrated the 76th Independence Day on15.08.2022 in its Office premise at Namchi with patriotic fervour and adhering to all COVID-19 safety protocols.
Mrs. Samita Sharma, Ld District & Sessions Judge, Namchi hoisted the National Flag on the occasion, which was followed by the Guard of Honour and rendition of the National Anthem.
On the occasion, Mrs Bebika Chettri, Ld Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Sr Civil Judge, Namchi, Mrs Rohini Rai, Ld Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Jorethang Sub-Division, Advocates of Namchi BAR Association, Officers and staff of the establishment of District & Sessions Court, Namchi, Members and staff of DLSA(South) at Namchi and DCDRF(South) at Namchi were also present.
After the ceremony of unfurling of the National Flag, the dignitaries in the event proceeded to attend the final match of Men’s Doubles Badminton Tournament. Mr. Prabhat Rai, Advocate, Namchi BAR Association and Mr. Abinash Thapa, Jr Librarian of the court won the match.
The event was followed by a cultural programme which was organised in the Court premise. The cultural programme was filled with grandeur as the Staff and advocates and students from various schools performed different cultural dance and the participants sang patriotic songs. There was also a Taekwondo demonstration performed by the Namchi Taekwondo Dojang. The event was followed by activities such as tug of war wherein the viewers also participated.
At the end of the programme, mementos and certificates were presented to the winners of the Badminton tournament and to the participants of the cultural programme by Mrs. Samita Sharma, Ld District & Sessions Judge, Namchi, Mrs Bebika Chettri, Ld Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Sr Civil Judge, Namchi, Mrs Rohini Rai, Ld Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Jorethang Sub-Division.
