Purple Fair 2025 Promotes Inclusivity for Person With Disabilities
Namchi, 15 September (IPR): A daylong event titled Purple Fair 2025, dedicated to celebrating diversity and encouraging inclusivity for Divyanjan, took place at Town Hall, Namchi today.
Purple Fair 2025 organised by Composite Regional Centre (CRC Sikkim) for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) under the administrative control of the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILD), Kolkata, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJ&E), Government of India.
The programme was organized to highlight the importance of Divyangjan in Viksit Bharat-2047, stressing that true national development is incomplete without their participation. It also sought to raise awareness about various disabilities and their impact on people’s lives, while promoting understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of persons with disabilities within society.
Ms Anjeeta Rajalim, Zilla Adhakshya Namchi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside Mr Subhash Ghimiray, ADC (HQ), as the Guest of Honour.
Ms Anjeeta Rajalim commended CRC Sikkim for offering a platform that enables divyangjan to showcase their talents. In her address, she emphasized the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, noting that each individual, regardless of ability, contributes unique value.
A total of 40 Divyangjan participants from Namchi District displayed their talents through diverse activities, including dance, music, skits, poetry, and painting at the event.
All the participants of the event were honoured with certificates in recognition of their active involvement and contribution. In addition, a child with a disability from Namchi District was acknowledged and presented with a CP chair, symbolizing the organisers’ commitment to supporting and empowering individuals with special needs.
Present throughout the event were Director CRC Sikkim Ms Pushpanjali Gupta, CEO Namchi Mr Suraj Rai, CDPO Namchi Mr Laxman Tamang, officials from line departments, CRC members, principals, teachers and students from different schools.
