Rangang-Yangang MLA and DC Namchi took a comprehensive tour of Yangang

Namchi, December 26(IPR): Ms Rajkumari Thapa Deputy Speaker, SLA/Area MLA, accompanied by Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi conducted a series of inspections in and around Yangang today, to assess the land acquisition process for the rehabilitation of landslide victims, other land issues, public infrastructure and address other public issues.
At the outset, a brief meeting was held at the SDM Yangang Office, where SDM Yangang, Mr Khem Lall Dahal, provided an update on the rehabilitation process for the landslide victims of Pathing and Majua. He reported that land parcha had been distributed to 55 families affected by the Pathing landslide as part of the rehabilitation efforts. Similarly, families impacted by the Majua Landslide have received basic amenities from NGOs and other welfare associations. The District administration is implementing restoration measures to ensure their safety, including the relocation of landless families to Samrook, the identified rehabilitation site.
Additionally, the SDM also briefed updates on land-related issues, including the Sikkim University and the newly built SDM Complex, and the functioning of the SDM office.
DC Namchi directed the officials to ensure that there are no backlogs in land-related issues and underscored maintaining proper record-keeping for administrative efficiency. She also instructed SDM Yangang to closely monitor the construction site of Sikkim University, ensuring that all work complies with regulations to prevent any adverse effects on the local community.
Deputy Speaker Ms Thapa emphasized the importance of cooperation among stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes in rehabilitation. She called for strict adherence to the Norms of Assistance under SDRF and NDRF, highlighting the necessity in the implementation of rehabilitation measures.
Thereafter, the team also visited Samrook and Namphok area which have been identified as rehabilitation sites. Further, the DC Namchi directed the concerned officials to expedite the process for acquisition and approval.
Following that, the team conducted site inspections at the newly built SDM Complex and Fire Station to review the progress of ongoing construction work. Subsequently, they visited the Rangang Yangang Gram Panchayat Kendra (GPK), where they assessed its functioning, including the delivery of e-services and the mechanisms in place for disaster response and suicide prevention at the GPU level. Later, they also visited the Yangang Health and Wellness Centre to observe the functioning of the hospital and assess the services being provided to the community.
Afterwards, the DC Namchi also made a visit to the Dhappar Ropeway, where she assessed its functionality and safety measures. During the visit, the DC encouraged efforts to attract more high-end tourists, highlighting the importance of sustainable tourism infrastructure and its role in boosting the local economy.
Throughout the day, the entourage was accompanied by Mr Nim Pintso Bhutia, SDM Namchi, Mr Suraj Rai DPO LRMDD, and Ms Needay Bhutia BDO Yangang other officials from Yangang SDM office.
