Second day of the first round of training for Presiding and Polling I Officers for General Elections 2024
Namchi, January 18(IPR): The second day of the first round of training for Presiding and Polling I Officers for the impending General Elections 2024, was held simultaneously at two venues namely the conference hall District Administrative Centre and the auditorium hall Namchi Senior Secondary School, under Namchi District, today.
The training session was conducted by Resource Persons Mr Sunny Kharel SDM Soreng, and Mr Dilip Sharma DPO Zilla Soreng, and had the participation of a total of 114 trainees.
The Resource Persons briefed the roles and responsibilities of the Presiding and Polling Officer I as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Further, the trainees were explained about setting up of polling stations, the functioning of Electronic Voting Machine (EVMs), Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), the do’s and don’t, and many other rules that need to be followed and exercised by them.
In addition, hands-on training was also given to the trainees to familiarize with EVMs.
During the training, Ms Annapurna Alley DC Namchi also visited the training venues wherein she briefed the pivotal roles of polling personnel in ensuring fair and smooth elections. She advised the trainees to make efficient use of the knowledge acquired during this training period and requested them to clear their doubts which may arise on the poll day.
