Second round of training for Counting Officials in Namchi district Underway
Namchi, May 22 (IPR): The training session for Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistant and Micro-Observers of Namchi district for General Elections 2024 entered its second day at the Conference hall of District Administrative Centre, Namchi.
The training session was led by Mr Tshering Norgyal Theengh, State Level Master Trainer (SLMT) SDM Yangang and Ms Bhumika Chettri, State Level Master Trainer (SLMT) cum Deputy Secretary, Election Cell Namchi.
Mr. Tshering Norgyal Theengh SLMT began the training session with a recap of the first round, where he reviewed key points. He discussed the examination on Control Unit (CU), special cases related to CUs as well as the inspection and unsealing of the CUs.
He provided in-depth overview of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPAT) and Scrutiny of postal ballot with practical demonstration.
In addition, he addressed various aspects such as checking the EVM and postal ballot procedures, ensuring voting secrecy, counting hall layout, inspecting control unit seals, VVPAT process and the role of the micro observer.
Ms. Bhumika Chettri SLMT provided with a round of questions and answers session, where the participants engaged actively.
She also provided a hands on session with the EVM and VVPAT, during which the participants engaged in the conversation and cleared their uncertainties.
A total number of 120 counting officials participated in the morning and afternoon training sessions.
