Sikkim Cricket Association(SICA) celebrates its 37th Foundation Day at Namchi district
Namchi, May 8 (IPR): The 37th Foundation Day of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) 2024 with the theme ‘ Let’s grow together’ was celebrated at Kitam Public Ground,
The occasion was graced by DC Namchi Ms Annapurna Alley as the Chief Guest. She was accompanied by Sr SP (Namchi) Dr T N Gyatsho, Sr SP(Gangtok) Mr Karma Gyatsho Bhutia, Joint Director Sports Department Ms Tshering Ongmu Bhuita, President SICA Mr Tika Subba along with the students from various schools under Namchi District and other dignitaries.
While addressing the gathering, the DC expressed her appreciation for inviting her to be a part of this celebration. She applauded their remarkable achievements after its establishment and acknowledged their commitments and inclusivity for nurturing budding cricketers of the state.In addition, she also commended the association in providing opportunities to young talents and promoting excellence through sports.
Likewise, President SICA expressed his gratitude to the chief guest for gracing the event. He also acknowledged the dedication of SICA and its testament for promoting and bringing out professionalism in the field of cricket. He highlighted that the main aim of their association is to plan and focus on their players and motivate them to achieve their goals as a team by creating a self-sufficient ecosystem within the SICA. He also informed that the Kitam public ground and Yangang public ground has been selected under SICA, which in future will enable them to train more youth of the state.
Mr Deepak Bhandari Panchayat President Kitam GPU informed that the Kitam public ground has been hosting Group C and D Division cricket matches from the past years under the supervision of SICA, which has helped in the upliftment and development of new talents of the district. He also mentioned about the evolution of cricket over years and informed that many cricket aspirants are being able to represent the state at various levels.
During the programme, the DC was presented Souvenir by the organising Committee along with other individuals who have contributed in the field of sports. At the outset, the family members of Late Namgyal Wangdi, Late Dhiraj Gurung and Late Topden Lepcha were also felicitated.
The event also included sporting events and cultural programmes hosted by SICA for the students of various schools of Namchi District, which was followed by T- 10 match played between SICA XI and Kitam XI.
