Sikkim Kalakar Bhorosha Saamelan 2.0 commences in Namchi

Namchi, March 3(IPR): The inaugural ceremony of the Two-day long Sikkim Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan 2.0 was successfully held at the Town hall, Namchi, today.The event was organized by Voice NGO Namchi and Supported by SKM Cultural wings Under the visionary leadership of Honorable Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr Prem Singh Tamang, aims to empower local artists and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Sikkim.
This event also mark the 50 years of statehood and Sunawlo Sikkim Samridhi Sikkim and Samarth Sikkim.
The ceremony was graced by Mr G T Dhungel, Minister for Health & Family Welfare Department and Culture Department as the Chief Guest accompanied by Madam Krishna Rai Chief Advisor cum Former MLA as a Guest of Honour along with Ms Raj Kumari Thapa Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Mr Satish Chandra Rai MLA, Mr N B Pradhan MLA, Mr Sanjit Kharel MLA, Mr Madan Cintury MLA, Mr YouganTamang Press Secretary to Chief Minister, Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, ADCs, SDMs, HoOs from line departments , dignitaries, and local artists.
Mr GT Dhungel in his addressed extended his heartfelt gratitude towards Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr Prem Singh Tamang, for creating a platform that highlights the talents of local artists and also commended the organizing committee of Sikkim Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan for the successful second edition of the event.
The Minister highlighted the significance of cultural tourism and exchange initiatives, pointing out their role in enabling communities to understand and value various cultures and traditions. He encouraged aspiring artists in Sikkim to transform their artistic passions into viable careers, motivating them to seek opportunities beyond the realm of government employment.
Additionally, he addressed the rich traditional practices and cultural heritage of Sikkim, emphasizing the necessity of safeguarding these traditions that bind the state together. He urged each individual to actively engage in and maintain their cultural heritage.
The Minister, expressed his apprehension regarding the increasing number of suicide cases in Sikkim and called upon artists to produce films that have a significant social impact in order to raise awareness about this critical issue.
He emphasised the importance of determination and diligence in attaining success and motivated young artists to play a role in realizing the vision of Sunaulo, Samriddha, and Samarth Sikkim.
The event featured a series of presentations by eight representatives from different fields including music, art, filmmaking, fashion, theatre, dance, comedy, and content creation were given 10 minutes each to present their concerns and grievances to the chief guest.
The speakers were as follows:
1. Mr Dibya Jyoti Baraily from Music Fraternity.
2. Mr Diwakar Lamichanay from Sketch art.
3. Mr Abhishek Chettri from Filmmaking.
4. Ms Pema choden Bhutia from Fashion.
5. Mr Suman Rai from Theater
6. Ms Anjali Rai from Dance Fraternity.
7. Mr Biren Pradhan from Stand-up Comedy.
8. Mr Luv Chettri from Content Creator.
Mr. Ugyen Chopel, a renowned filmmaker, shared his wealth of knowledge in filmmaking by recounting his personal journey and the invaluable lessons he has learned throughout his career. He also captivated the audience with anecdotes from his collaborations with prominent Bollywood stars and offered a glimpse into his experiences within the Indian film industry.
The event also featured a short panel discussion session, moderated by Mr. Sanjay Rai, where three distinguished panelists from diverse backgrounds shared their insights on various topics.
Mr. Prasant Rasaily, a distinguished director, cinematographer, and scriptwriter from Sikkim, delivered an insightful talk on the profound influence of artists, arts, and culture, highlighting their transformative and healing impact on society.
Dr Manoj Rai, a senior musician, discussed Cultural Tourism & Its Scopes, highlighting its potential and opportunities.
Mr Bhawani Ghimirey, OSD of the Culture Department, elaborated on the Roles and Responsibilities of the Cultural Department. The session provided valuable perspectives on art, culture, and their significance in societal development.
During the event, the poster of a documentary film based on Vatsalya Yojana was released. The film, directed by Mr Laxman Darjee, highlights the initiatives and impact of the scheme.
The event also featured vibrant cultural performances by guest artists from Nepal, including Mr Sairaj Khati, Ms Rebika and Ms Lhamu, Ms Sukmit Gurung, Ms Babita Manandhar, and the Nritya Shreya dance group, adding a lively and diverse cultural flavor to the occasion.
