State Level Insurance Committee Meeting held at Namchi District

Namchi, February 17 (IPR): A state-level insurance committee meeting was conducted in Namchi District under the guidance of Future Generali India Insurance Company Limited, in association with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). The event took place at the Conference Hall of Namchi District Zilla Panchayat (NDZP) today.
The meeting saw the presence of Mr Duyshant Pariyar Secretary PRI under RDD as the Chief Guest, Mr Mahendra Pradhan Financial Director (Nodal Officer) as the Guest of Honour, Mr Amit Kumar AVP Resource Person, Future Generali India Life Insurance, Mumbai, Mr Upendra Rai BDO Namchi, Ms Kavita Nambag Branch Manager Gangtok, Mr Binod Gurung Branch In-charge Future Generali India Insurance, Project and Sales Teams from Future Generali India Insurance, Gangtok.
The primary objective of this meeting was to raise awareness about the various insurance schemes available through Future Generali India Insurance, with a particular focus on the project’s community impact.
During the meeting Mr Duyshant Pariyar highlighted the importance of Future Generali India Insurance, emphasising its potential for community upliftment. He spoke on the critical role of Panchayats in spreading insurance awareness, noting their ability to connect with every community member. He called for collective efforts to ensure the success of the initiative at the grassroots level.
Mr Mahendra Pradhan stressed the importance of insurance coverage for Sikkim’s residents, urging everyone to enrol in the schemes available, which are tailored specifically for them.
He provided an overview of three key schemes:
1.Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) – Life insurance coverage.
2.Atal Pension Yojana – Pension benefits for subscribers.
3.Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) – Accidental insurance coverage, including death, disability, and medical expenses.
Furthermore, he announced that Panchayats with higher insurance scheme participation would receive awards.
Mr Amit Kumar reinforced the significance of Future Generali India Insurance and its direct benefits to the people of Sikkim. He discussed strategies to increase public engagement and outlined various plans designed to meet the needs of Sikkim’s residents.
Ms Kavita Nambag presented a PowerPoint overview of the progress and activities of Future Generali India Insurance in Sikkim.
Mr Binod Gurung provided a detailed briefing on General Insurance through a PowerPoint presentation. He reminded the audience that, as per the state government mandate, all residents of Sikkim, including business owners, must obtain General Insurance by 2027.
He also addressed the recent Sikkim floods, assuring participants that claims under General Insurance would be processed promptly. Additionally, he highlighted the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana for accident-related claims.
Mr Bhupendra Dahal & Mr Sumit Sharma provided insights into various life insurance schemes introduced by the Government of India under IRDAI:
1.Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
2.Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana
3.Saral Jeevan Bima
4.Atal Pension Yojana
5.Saral Pension
A booklet containing detailed information on both life and general insurance schemes was launched by the Chief Guest to further educate the public.
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has set the ambitious target of providing insurance coverage for all by 2047. However, Sikkim has set an even more ambitious goal to achieve this milestone by 2027. This initiative aims to reduce regulatory barriers and foster greater public understanding of insurance, ensuring that every resident is covered.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Alina Rai. Following this, an interactive session was held, where participants engaged in discussions about the Future Generali India Insurance schemes, fostering greater understanding and community participation.
This event served as a significant step towards achieving comprehensive insurance coverage for all in Sikkim by 2027.
