Third batch of Tourist Guide Training, a Comprehensive Programme commenced at ICHAE, Chemchey

Namchi 31 August (IPR): The third batch for the training cum crash course programme for tourist guides, organised by IHCAE Chemchey in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Sikkim, commenced at the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Ecotourism (IHCAE), Chemchey, today.
The event was graced by the presence of Director Finance Department Mr. Karma Gyatsho Dawa as the Chief Guest, and Assistant Collector of Namchi Mr. Pulkit (IAS) as the Special Guest. Among the attendees were JD cum Principal (IHCAE) and Everest climber, Mr. Kazi Sherpa, Administrators of IHCAE, instructors, resource persons, and members.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Mr. Karma Gyatso Dawa a dedicated trekker and mountaineer, underscored the significance of the tourism industry. He brought attention to the course’s significance and gave focus on the vital roles and ethical responsibilities of guides who operate on the field.
Mr. Pulkit emphasised the growing popularity of adventure tourism and its relevance among the general masses. He underscored the surge in interest and participation in adventure-based travel experiences, emphasising its potential to attract adventure-seeking tourists, leading to economic growth and local advancement.
Moreover, the session covered the training’s purposes, goals, and objectives, including discussions about the registration of training guides.
Furthermore, visual presentations were showcased to enhance the understanding of the topics.
