Virtual Orientation cum Coordination conference on State Level Mock Exercise on Earthquake Disaster
Namchi, 2nd May (IPR): A daylong ‘Virtual Orientation cum Coordination conference on State Level Mock Exercise on Earthquake Disaster’ was conducted at District Administration Centre Namchi, today.
The conference has been organised by the State of Sikkim in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The conference had the presence of DC (Namchi) Mr. M. Bharani Kumar, SDM (HQ) Mr. Chiran Rizal, Education Department (CEO) Mr. K.Imvaraj, ADC (Dev, Ravangla) Mr. Sunil Mothay and HoDs from various line departments.Also present virtually on the conference were Secretary cum Relief Commissioner, Government of Sikkim Mr. Anil Raj Rai and other officials from all the districts.
The conference was virtually chaired by Senior Consultant(ME and IRS), NDMA Retd. Major General Sudhir Bahl, he detailed the officials about the preparatory measures regarding Table Top Exercise (TTEx) and other Mock Exercises (physical conduct), which will be held on 10th and 12th of May. He also urged the officials and stakeholders to get updated disaster management plans and be prepared for any kind of casualties in the future.
Further, he also informed about the preliminary actions, additional district wise details on disaster management plans and reiterated on the statutory advice to the officials. In addition, he also suggested the officials to create awareness campaigns on earthquakes at all levels.
Further, DC (Namchi) Mr. M. Bharani also briefed and assigned the roles and responsibilities to the officials for the successful execution of the upcoming mock exercises.
The main objective of the conference was to improve and review the disaster response system and to raise general public awareness on disaster management plan.
