Yuva Sangam under Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat

Namchi, 3rd March(IPR):An inaugural ceremony of ‘Yuva Sangam’, a programme of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat under the Ministry of Education, Government of India was organized at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Ravangla, today.
The inaugural program had the presence of Director, NIT (Ravangla) Mr. Mahesh Chandra Govil, SDM (Ravangla) Ms. Trisang Tamang, Deputy Director (Tourism) Ms. Lamin Theengh, Ram Nepal (Nodal Officer, NIT) along with the faculty members, staff and students of NIT Ravangla.
Addressing the gathering, Director NIT Mr. Mahesh Chandra extended his warm welcome to the delegates from Odisha the state of Sikkim. He spoke on the importance and aim of the Yuva Sangam which gives youths an opportunity to learn and discover the diverse culture, history and achievements of Sikkim. He added that, this initiative will provide an opportunity to inculcate the spirit of cultural awareness and nationalism among the youngsters of north east and rest of India. Further, he spoke on the contribution of youths in the nation building process and encouraged them to develop their entrepreneurial skills and become a job provider rather than job seeker in this competative day and age.
SDM( Ravangla) Ms Trisang Tamang in her address motivated the students to learn the best practices and experiences of the cultural and social engagement during their stay. she wished them to make the most out of this programme.
It may be mentioned here that NIT Ravangla is the nodal institute for Sikkim and will be hosting the Yuva Sangam. This initiative is conceptualized by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi to build close ties between the youth of the North East Region and the rest of India under the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. As part of this program, a team of 31 students and 5 coordinators from the state of Odisha are participating wherein they will stay for 5 days in Sikkim.
During the program, cultural performance of different communities of Sikkim and Skit play on Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat was also showcased by the JNV Ravangla students and volunteers from Namchi Nehru Yuva Kendra, respectively. A PPT presentation on tourism in Sikkim was also presented before the delegates by Director (Tourism and Civil Aviation) Ms. Lamin Theengh .
Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme of Government of India aims to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs through the concept of state/UT pairing. NIT Ravangla will carry out activities to promote a sustained and structured exchange in the areas of culture, traditions, tourism and cuisine and sharing of best practices with the students from Odisha. The Yuva Sangam will provide an immersive, multidimensional experience of various facets-under four broad areas of Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development) and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect.
